“Peter von Kant” (2021) Directed by François Ozon premiered at the Berlinale movie festival earlier this year. The film is a Loose adaptation of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (1972), Ozon’s take is a fun celebration of satirical humor and a tribute to the original film director Rainer Werner Fassbinder on which he based the main character. Rainer was considered to be “the bad boy of the new german cinema” and was known for having sadistic relationships with his cast and using his lovers in his films. The film "Enfant Terrible" is based on his life and tragic death in 1982.

Summary:
Peter is a successful film director and has an emotionally sadistic relationship with his slave/assistant Karl who is "in love" with him. The plot escalates when Peter meets Amir, a young man with a complicated history, and falls "in love" with him and promises to make him a star. Peter objectify Amir and when he can't possess him anymore he gets trapped in an emotionally masochistic rollercoaster.
