Join clinical social worker and therapist Shai Spitzen as he explores the social history of kink and its stigmatization. Discover the impact this stigma has had on individuals throughout history and learn about the strategies being used to de-stigmatize kink today. Using a post-structural perspective, Shai will share intriguing examples of kink medicalization and de-medicalization, and examine the influence of Catholicism and Judaism on our view of sexuality. Learn about how different institutions and disciplinary powers control our sexuality, and how feminism and sexual diversity are interconnected.

About Shai

Shai is a Clinical social worker and an activist with Bachler and a Master's in Social Work, a Graduate of an IPPF Israel program for human sexuality and group guidance. He is the founder of "The Center for Alternative Sexuality" in Israel, a nonprofit organization for the benefit of the BDSM, Fetish, Consensual non-monogamy, and LGBTQIA communities. As part of his community service, he founded a helpline for sexual assault in BDSM and non-monogamy, and trained community members to be group conductors, awareness teams, and therapists, to create an inclusive and friendly index. Shai's mission is to fight stigmatization to create a safer community in terms of consent.
