Kinky Soul & Kino Central Presents: Kinky Cinema Open Air 

Cinema and movies are powerful mediums for storytelling and artistic expression. It allows the viewers to connect and reflect on their own lives and internal worlds. Kinky Soul Cinema aims to bring together people from across the sex-positive spectrum to experience and observe kink, fetish, LGBTQ+ gender identity, non-traditional relationships, and controversial forms of sexual expression on the big screen in order to facilitate open discussions and empowerment of the sex-positive community. 

Our summer events will unfold once again at one of Berlin's most iconic landmarks!  The House Schwarzenberg courtyard at Hackescher Markt. This historical place is a symbol of art and freedom in Berlin, making it the perfect backyard and private space.

SICK: THE LIFE & DEATH OF BOB FLANAGAN, SUPERMASOCHIST  (1997)

"Sick" is the internationally acclaimed film directed by Kirby Dick. a documentary about comedian and performance artist Bob Flanagan whose experiences with S&M helped him manage his painful disease Cystic Fibrosis. A deeply moving, often hilarious profile of one of the most unique artists of this century, "Sick" follows Flanagan's strikingly original art and life over several decades as he explores the limits of pain, sexuality, love, and death.

The documentary has been noted for its raw and honest portrayal of Flanagan's experiences and is considered both powerful and controversial due to its explicit content and exploration of extreme masochism. It has been praised for shedding light on the intersection of illness, suffering, and sexual expression, making it a significant piece of work in the context of alternative sexuality and kink.

Post-screening Meetup :
After the credits, we will process the film together with Kirstine Weaver (Thy/Them) a  sexological bodyworker how previously worked as a surrogate (sex therapist) for people with visible and invisible disabilities.  Kristine themself is dealing with chronical illness & pain.  Together we will engage in a dissociation about chronic pain and the relationship to kink and pleasure.
